Sleep data missing 3 of last 4 days??

When my watch was new (early Feb '16) I would occasionally inadvertently turn my watch off at night, thus I would have no sleep data. I figured out that I could lock the device and since then it's worked great. That was my bad.

However, 3 of the last 4 nights I have no sleep data - device was locked. What could be the cause for this? I did have a pretty restless sleep last night (tossed/turned a fair bit). I do have my sleep times properly set. I also checked my 4 hour HR graph when I got up and it looked good. Could it be that it thought I was awake due to too much movement?

  • Just me huh? Well, I guess I'll keep an eye on it and contact Garmin support if it continues.

This started happening after I installed the latest software update(4.20) yesterday. Suddenly, no sleep data last night. It shows total number of hours slept, but no light or deep sleep numbers, and no graph

Yes, this is more prone to happening in 4.2. Watch just doesn't get the trigger to enter sleep mode. Not sure why. I'm getting 1-2 times a week now.

Current workaround for me is to just manually enter in some sleep times and the graph and deep sleep breakdown etc will then be displayed.

Wow!!! I kind of picked & filled in a sleep/wake time that with an hour each side of what I really did last night, on Garmin Connect and instantaneously the graph filled in with light and deep sleep times.
It also showed up instantly on my phone because they were synching when I did this.

Do you have to do this every day?

So the answer should be no.

Provided you have entered in reasonable sleep hours in the settings, it SHOULD pick up a reduction in overall movement near these times as sleep. However, for me, it usually registers sleep earlier than I actually go to sleep, mainly when I'm just relaxing on the couch. With 4.2 it seems to just fail to register more often for whatever reason. I'd imagine they will fix what is causing it eventually.

Also FYI, I have my sleep hours set to 1AM - 6AM (eg. Inside my actual hours). I usually fall asleep at ~12am and get up at 7:30am. It usually gets the wakeup time spot on but the sleep time is almost always earlier than actual (or no register at all as of 4.2)

Note: The reason the workaround works is because the watch is always tracking and logging your movement so when you manually enter in sleep times it just uses this data to calculate deep sleep and normal sleep times

Ok, I see now! Thank you, this will have to do for now

Now, if they could just solve the complete instantaneous battery drain on turn off problem
