230 with chest strap bundle

Has anyone gotten the chest strap bundle?
Or using the same strap that it comes with?

Wondering how comfortable is it, never used one before.
Also, is the main piece of it fairly flat, or does it stick out through your shirt?

I was debating the 235, since 'close enough' would be fine for me on heart rate, but after having used the vivosmart hr, I find that little bump very intrusive on my arm all day, and think I would rather just put on a strap when I'm working out.
  • I have the bundled strap and I'm fine with it! - no problems!
  • Chest straps are weird when you first use them (they feel slightly restrictive) but then after a while you get to use it and you feel naked without one on! They stick out only very slightly and provide great data,

  • Hi !

I have the bundled chest strap. The question about getting an optical HR (235) did not even go through my mind. I keep thinking data is more accurate.

I also have a BTLE strap+sensor and a G coded strap+sensor. I don't use the sensors with the 230, of course, but I regularly use the straps bundled with them (Polar kind of straps) which I find less "compressive" than the Garmin one. And the Garmin ANT+ sensor works perfectly with them. What I don't really like about the Garmin strap is the system to set the size. I don't find it very user-friendly.

    Cheers.

The chest strap does feel a little weird at first. But once you're warmed up you forget it's even there—especially when running hard. Accuracy and responsiveness has been very good too. During Fartleks, for example, it seems to detect heart rate changes immediately.
  • Like the other posts here, I had to get used to the strap at first (it was my very first time to wear any chest strap for an HRM), but after a few runs I already had an idea how tight/loose the fit should be and it's now comfortable to wear. I don't even notice it anymore once I start running.
