Optical HRM not working, device sluggish and battery drain since update

Former Member

Since I've updated to 4.20, my HRM stopped working.
Also the device feels sluggish, when I click a button it takes over a second for it to respond.
Lastly, I've been experiencing battery drain.

All of this since the update. Anyone else experiencing the same?

No Heart rate after using 1day ?
    Im BORED
  • I have updated to same system software levels as you and I am seeing the exact same problem, so yes, definitely a systemic error. I too hope Garmin fixes this ASAP.

Yes, probably they will, like in a month! Garmin trying to fix they bugs, but they have an updates only once in a month or even two!

    Just finished my run:
    https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1131471882

OHR was OFF until the 7:49 minute.

HR wasn't correct as well. The numbers was really low. I usually run at 150bpm and it was around 130bpm until 34:43 minute, then, it started to go up.

I installed a last version of all the updates, here is my System -> About
    Software Version: 4.20
    GPS: 3.00
    Display: 2.10
    Bluetooth/ANT: 2.20
    WHR: 2.60
    Connect IQ 1.2.2

It is defiantly a bug, a real serious bug. Please take your attention and fix that.

This is the same issue I had today. It worked a few times after the update...now no HRM during activity mode, but shows HR via the Garmin HR widget.
  • Hmmm, didn't put too much thought into it but happened to me once since the update as well... No HR in an activity at all for the first ~5:40

Also, is everyone having this issue with the HR graph where the scale is off?

    For example here:

    https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1127699175

The scale goes from 160 to 200 where the HR is between 150 and 185. As a result it seems as if you're missing HR measurements at certain points (making the graph fullscreen gives a proper scale btw). Happens with a lot of my activities...

    Yep. Same here!
I've open an issue to Support via that link (and I suggest to do that to everybody). Will see how the things are moving, cause, its been a few days since the update and no sign from Garmin.
  • Missing HR from start of an activity.
Only happened once, but after the update.
This is probably private, but support should be able to see it.

Before the update I have had what I'd term innacurate HR data for the first 5 mins before, perhaps garmin now try to detect what is inacurate and just dont display/record it now.
  • Had my 235 since 11/20/15-over 1,000 miles run. Worked great. Updated a few days ago. The watch shows HR but it stays in the low 80's when normally it would read 130-150. Looks like I go back to the HRM strap, which, by the way, I haven't missed. I have the VVA- non HR and my 920xt, but really liked running w/o the strap.
You would think a guy who has run over 84,000 miles would know his HR w/o a monitor. I jumped on the HR monitor train when Polar introduced them a long time ago. Been with Garmin since the 101- lovingly referred to by old runners as "the brick".
I am confident that Garmin will get it squared away. If they don't, guess what? I will keep running. Nick:)
