Optical HRM not working, device sluggish and battery drain since update

Since I've updated to 4.20, my HRM stopped working.
Also the device feels sluggish, when I click a button it takes over a second for it to respond.
Lastly, I've been experiencing battery drain.

All of this since the update. Anyone else experiencing the same?
  • HRM Very slow to pick up heart beat

Yes. My first run after the update showed no HR data. I restarted the watch and paid more attention the next day. I noticed that it took about 5-10 minutes after going into run mode for the watch to pick up the HR and show it on the watch.

I have not noticed the sluggishness though.

Seems like bugs that need to be fixed ASAP.
  • Agreed. Feels much slower. After clicking buttons it takes noticeably longer to respond.
  • Try resetting the device, either hard or master.

it doesn't work... I have the same problem since yesterday ...
  • Check the OHRM module's version and make sure it isn't still stuck on 2.5. Some people got 4.2 firmware without the 2.6 HRM update due to bluetooth download speeds, and those are jacked up until the OHRM module is updated too.
  • As lightmatter said, it's probably your version of Sensor Hub.

See this thread, as it's got ways to check for and install the update:

Since the update not only are things slower but the watch struggles to lock on my heart rate and often is stuck at 175+ bpm when starting a run. I never had this specific issue prior to the update.
  • I only recognize the sluggishness... Seems to respond slower since the last update (but haven't factory resetted, to be honest I really don't feel like setting everything up again atm).

Also changed the watch face, so perhaps that influences things as well.

OHR is working fine, battery drain is absent (actually, surprised at how well the battery does with the increased sampling).
  • HR NOT working after update to 4.2 and WHR 2.6

    Just finished my run:
    https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1131471882

OHR was OFF until the 7:49 minute.

HR wasn't correct as well. The numbers was really low. I usually run at 150bpm and it was around 130bpm until 34:43 minute, then, it started to go up.

I installed a last version of all the updates, here is my System -> About
    Software Version: 4.20
    GPS: 3.00
    Display: 2.10
    Bluetooth/ANT: 2.20
    WHR: 2.60
    Connect IQ 1.2.2

It is defiantly a bug, a real serious bug. Please take your attention and fix that.

I have updated to same system software levels as you and I am seeing the exact same problem, so yes, definitely a systemic error. I too hope Garmin fixes this ASAP.
