Active Calories problem with 24/7 HR

Hi. I have recently activated my FR235. I sync it with MyFitness Pal.

I have noticed that it shows unbelievably high Active Calories. I suspected it was related to the HR monitor so I did an experiment.

Experiment setup: I was sitting in front of the computer reading. I did not stand up during the experiment period. For the 1st hour, I turned the HR monitor. For the 2nd hour, I turned off the HR monitor

HR On: Active Calories increased by 290 calories.

HR Off: Active Calories increased by 30 calories.

I'm not sure if you need these but here are my stats:

5'11", male, 41 years old, 225 lbs, was inactive but recently became active, Activity Class 7, V02 Max (Running) 34.

What is the issue? Is this a known issue? Is it present in the Fenix 3 HR?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Difficult to comment without seeing the HR trace. Was it relatively flat and near your RHR? Had you done exercise beforehand which can result in a slightly elevated calorie burn for sometime after? Was there any abnormal spikes in the trace?
