Loosing time on watch face

Since the recent updates, the actual watch seems to be loosing time. I've tried turning the watch on and off. Connected and synced many times with my phone, both with the watch set to manual time and automatic.

Anyone else having issues? Found / recommend a soloutions?
  • Have you tried letting it get a lock with the gps? It seems it uses the gps to set the time.

    Time adjust

Hi, I've had the same problem but through further investigation I found a section on the watch to allow manual time setting.
Go to the menu - settings -system - clock - then scroll down to set automatically. Turn this off then you can set the time yourself.

    Hope that helps.

Syncing with either Garmin Express or a Garmin Connect Mobile app doesn't – and shouldn't – do anything to the date and time on the watch. The FR235 does not use any other devices – or, for that matter, servers on the Garmin Connect platform or Internet time servers – as authoritative sources of what the current date and time is. (The user's views and preferences are irrelevant in that regard, even if he/she believes his/her phone is reliable as a source.)

    Found / recommend a soloutions?
Let the FR235 set the time automatically, and go outside to get a GPS signal by preparing to start a GPS-tracked activity such as a Run. (N.B. You don't actually have to start the timer or start tracking an activity for the watch to attempt to obtain a lock on the GPS signal.)

It seems it uses the gps to set the time.
That's what the Owner's Manual says.

Is it a custom watch face or the Garmin default? If it's a custom one, revert back to the default one and see if that makes a difference.

As noted, check everything works but getting a good GPS lock and allowing the time to sync is definitely the first thing to do.

And when you say 'seems to be losing time' what do you mean? Compared to what? Watches either lose time or they don't.

    Seems to be working again

    Thanks for the replies.

Yesterday evening I tried to set the time manually, rather than the watch set it automatically. This was worse, it started loosing closer to 20mins than the 5 - 10 it was. So I put it back into automatic and turned it fully off for the night.

This afternoon, I turned it back on, put it into GPS and set off for an hour. This does seem to have sorted the time out correctly. I am assuming the issue is fixed, but will keep an eye on it.

Switching off the watch when not in use is not recommended. There is an unresolved issue such that battery power consumption is higher when the FR235 is switched off, than when it is left switched on and displaying the watch face.

Thanks, I did not know that. Though, in this instance, it seems to have done the trick - or perhaps reading the above, it may be more likely the GPS tracking when I used it earlier fixed it. So far, 4+ hours later, it is still keeping the correct time, so I'm happy!

    THIS ^

I'm having a bad experience with Firmware v4.20.
Yesterday after running for 30min, the watch got stuck on the Saving screen. But not frozen. The saving "wheel" was spinning forever, and the connection with the phone was working. It even sync'ed the activity with the phone. But I just couldn't exit from the Saving screen.

So I pressed the Power/Light button for several seconds until it turned off. Then on again. Everything seemed to be fine.

Today the alarm went off about 40 minutes late, that's how late the time on my watch was after one night. What happened?

I tried some things, like sync'ing with the phone, turning off and on; there was one thing that solved it - triggering the Activity screen and wait for a GPS Fix. I waited for two minutes, but "GPS Ready" did NOT show up.
However, after leaving the Activity screen, the time was corrected.
Now... how long will it last until it drifts again?
And why did it drift in the first place?
