Firmware 4.2

Has killed the OHR. Nothing. Turned off and on. Nothing. No lights, no HR. Nothing.

Well done lads.
  • I have went from an extremely dissatisfied customer to a super pleased one. Sure, there are a few glitches here and there, but the frequency and severity of these is in line with most other technology.

All day heart rate works. Calorie estimates are good. GPS is spot on. Battery life is as advertised.

It's a shame it took 5 months to get here.

    4.2 update strikes!

Bought watch 4/25/16 and immediately charged to 100%

Watch worked flawlessly for a few days.
    Updated to software 4/28 to:
    version 4.20
    display: 2.10
    bluetooth/ANT: 2.20
    WHR: 2.60
    Connect IQ: 1.2.2

    Immediate problems after software update:
    1) not tracking sleep data.
    2) immediate(<2 mins) complete discharge upon turn off(was at 82% charge prior to turn off). Cannot restart watch. Connected to laptop via USB charging cable, watch showed 88% charged. But, after disconnect, screen faded to black in <10 seconds like battery dead. No restart. Reconnect to charge cable and after ~2 mins, watch buzzes and screen comes on showing 92% charged. Disconnect and fades to black again and will not start up. Reconnect to charger and screen lights up after 2 mins showing 95% charged. Unplug and fades to black again.

Finally, at 100% charge, watch turns on and stays on. Still no sleep data in Garmin Connect from last night upon synching via Garmin Express. Not a big deal if only last night is lost. I'll have to see if sleep tracking works tonight, or if ever again

Instantaneous 100% power discharge upon turn off is a HUGE, widespread, problem. No sleep tracking is a loss of a major feature

I sent an email to Garmin Support from the link above with this exact description and received email notification of its receipt

I hope Garmin will simply give us the ability to revert back to the previous software version while they work on fixing the bugs n ver 4.2

[update] Using a suggestion from another thread on this forum, I was able to recover lost sleep data that was not showing after the update. On Garmin Connect, I simply filled in the fields for updating sleep times (that means general begin and end time), as soon as I saved those round about start and stop time, the actual light and deep sleep data appeared along with the graph. I will probably have to do this daily until Garmin comes out with a fix

After Last firmware update (4.20 and 2.60 HRM) - and after an hard reset of the device, there is no way to obtain a single workout with HR monitor dota that have some sense! With previous firmware i had absolutely no problems with HR readings (or very few problems in some occasion).
    see these actvities:

I'm getting the same. HR tracking during an activity is now a mess. Apart from the HR monitor not working at the start of a run issue I'm also getting weird lock ups. It's not cadence locking but locking to some other number. Sometimes it's close to something feasible and then all of a sudden it jumps up to actual HR. This is extremely off putting and distracting during a run. Sometimes it's just a strange obviously wrong number like 85 bpm.

For me, prior to 4.2, tracking during an activity was about the only thing working reasonably well. Apart from occasional cadence lock and pace issues which were fixed, it was ok. Now they've gone and broke that too making the watch even more annoying to use.

The incompetence continuously being demonstrated by Garmin is astonishing. They can't seem to get anything right. I'm at my wits end with watch. Has been nothing but a headache to use and I've had it for nearly 6 months.

I have the same "72bpm" problem since 4.20 software update.
(software version: 4.20, sensor hub version: 2.60)

I usually don't turn off the watch itself. I allways switch of only the OHR after workouts and I put the watch into the "wristwatch" mode. Then I switch on the OHR right before next day/workout.
I start the training, I run some minutes, and I see the HR value is wrong again, and again... and again... :(

For now I found only one "solution" for the OHR problem: have to restart the watch itself. After that, the problem solved for the rest of training (until the next training...)

I think this "solution" is definitely NOT the right solution. I hope the Garmin will solve this problem SOON...
    But when?

Well, the sleep tracking problem seems to have been permanently solved by adjust the start and stop time in Garmin Connect.
Now, it shows light and heavy sleep times, along with the graph, when it synchs

Although, I have noticed that HR was showing 70-72 bpm for blocks of time during my 4 mile run yesterday. There is no way my rate was that low at that point of my run
  • Is it possible to download this firmware somewhere? I want to roll back to it from 4.3 due to critical issue described there:
    https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?350403-Watch-keeps-restarting-every-half-a-hour-loosing-activity-tracking-data-(fw-4-3)

    Thanks

i have a doubt: maybe HRM worng data it's related to some datafield o watchface?
now i'm triyng to uninstall one at a time to see it i can note some difference.
Anyone has already did these tests....
well garmin guys shoud make these tests but the only thing they seems to be able to do is give absurd answers, like "we see pyu activities, what's wrong?"

Software update 4.3 seems to have solved all the problems I had.
I've only had the watch a couple of weeks and am very pleased with its performance
The problems only lasted a few days for me
