My Forerunner 230 turned off tonight and will not come back. It is new and has only been charged twice. It had at least 70% charge today. I have had it plugged in but it will not come back on. Any one else had this problem? Suggestions
  • There is definitely something buggy with this watch. Some people claim good battery life with no problems, I get about 2 weeks with just bluetooth sync.

Try this. If you are charging it via a wall charger, try plugging it into your computer to charge. And leave it plugged in for a couple of hours.
  • There is a known bug where the battery drains if the watch is switched off, so leave it on for now.

Only once I let mine go flat, and also thought it was dead. It took a good hour of charging to resurrect itself but should get there.

I'm having the same problem, watch had around 75% charge yesterday afternoon and the next time I looked at it the screen was off. No matter what I've tried it has not come back on. Tried all different combinations of buttons and tried charging on the wall and USB. Has anyone discovered a miracle fix for this bug yet? I'm waiting on an email back from Garmin and will also be calling them today during my lunch break. I've only had the watch about 3 weeks and up until now it's worked great. Of course it stopped working while I'm traveling and have no other watch with me.
  • Hold down the power key for about 30-40 seconds. Should power back on.

Thanks for the tip. I gave that a try (held down for a full minute) and had no luck. I'm hoping to get through to Garmin tech support today and will report back.
  • Have you tried plugging it in to the charger and letting it just stay that way for some time (15 minutes)? It the battery is at 0% it may need to increase a bit before it will do anything.

Yes, charging was the first thing I tried.

I spoke with Garmin today and they walked me through a couple troubleshooting steps before giving me an RMA and shipping me a new watch. Seems like the unit is just dead.
