Does anyone know if there is a way that I can customize this sports profile to only record heart rate and calories? Does it always have to record distance and pace? thank you

I'm assuming your HR zones are set correctly? What activity class are you set at?

yep! I set my own HR zones. My max HR is 178. My activity class is set at an 8. I read what they mean and mine was the 7 to 11 hours per week. but I did play around with lesser number with no real change.

From my untrained eye and experience in recording that kind of activity time in zones looks about right. I notice that you have speed and distance readings so I presume you had GPS on? Maybe that is messing up your readings? If you look at my activity then distance/speed/elevation is all zero.

No, the only thing I have GPS on for is outdoor running. I made sure that was turned off for everything else. I also did a hard reset because in the beginning the same problem was happening with running too. on a a 30 minute run once it gave me something like 60 calories. the running corrected itself after the reset but everything else is still messing up! Thanks for helping me. I really wanted to like this watch!

I too have had issues with calorie burn with low readings but when that happens my Training Effect value has always been 1.0. Its as though the watch has ignore the actual effort in the training and given me a minimal value. Luckily it's not happened for a while now. For you I have no idea. Maybe time to get the watch swapped.

hi all! I figured out the problem with my 235. Apparently, my HRM strap isn't compatible with Garmin devices. The belt is the Myzone MZ-3. Just wanted to add this to this thread, in case anyone is having the same problem.

I don't understand why it would be incompatible, when the MZ-3 supposedly broadcasts over ANT+.

I don't get it either. I did a test today to see about my theory and wore my husband's wahoo HR monitor and the calories were tracked consistent with what I think I should have burned. So I came on here and read some old threads and it turns out I am not the only one with this problem and the M-Z 3 belt. sad, I'm not sure what to do now, I love the watch and I am attached to the myzone system! :(

I'm not so sure it's your chest strap. Just yesterday I did a 30 minute HIIT workout. I should have burned around 380-400 calories. My watch read 54 while using my Garmin HR strap. This has happened to me twice before. Both times the low readings were consecutive workouts, but disappeared for a couple of weeks before occurring again. Got me????

yeah, I see what you are saying, but I do think that it is the MZ-3 because every time I have used it I have gotten those low numbers. When I used the OHM it was okay on calories, and when I used the wahoo it was okay. I will use the MZ-3 tomorrow and see. I think that I am going to send this piece back and get a new one. I do think its defective. The bluetooth seems touchy and the battery only charges to 98%. I will post and tell how tomorrows workout goes.
