FR235 stil thinks its charging

Hi All,
so, got my FR235 yesterday, set it up all good, synced to garmin connect and express, updated to 4.1 and left it in the laptop USB to charge.

when I came to wearing it, noticed that the HRM is not working. when I go to the heart rate widget, it has a red / across the heart rate sign. and the green leds were not ON either. plus, i never got the power off menu (yes/no) as well.

reset the watch a couple of time, factory reset, deleted user data, still no luck. same as above.

then i noticed that the device still says charging. it has this lightning sign on battery, plus a very brief popup come up when i power on. it stays on even if i disconnect from the laptop.I assume that the HRM is not working because of this, as it believes that it is still charging.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Not quite sure if the "charging" status that appears is the cause to the problem. I have noticed the same behaviour several times, with the watch telliong me it was charging in spite of being disconnected from the charger. But that didn't cause me the problems you are describing, it worked just fine.

I think it might be best to get in touch with Garmin support for I suspect you may have a faulty unit, especially since you mentioned doing hard resets already.
  • I see the 'charge icon still shows when disconnected' problem as well, so I'm guessing it is a bug. I find if I switch the display and then go back to the clock it's corrected itself

Cheers. Contacted garmin support today and they gave me this link to webupdate. Asked me to reinstall v4.1.if still not ok, they'll send a replacement.
    Will try it tonight.

Unfortunately that doesn't solve it for me. It even stays the same even after a factory reset!
