Calories way too low on the workout

Sorry I posted this in the wrong forum first

Hi there. I just got my forerunner 235. I decided to use it today to record a circuit workout. I used the "other" profile and hooked up an external HRM strap.the watch did alert me to being hooked up to my chest strap. I worked out for a total of 51 minutes, including warm up and cool down. during the workout I was mostly in my higher HR zones maxing at 160. according to garmin I burned 61 calories (my BMR rate is 66 per hour) and the app for my chest strap says 350 not including BMR calories. I went though all my settings and can't find where I would have gone wrong. the only thing that I don't know is the active level which I set in the middle since I didn't know what that means. any help or insight would be appreciated. thank you. PS : this is the third time I have typed this out, for some reason I am being kicked out before I can finish. If you have seen my post already, I am sorry, I didn't know it posted.

well I just got back from a 3 mile run. while it recorded pace and distance quite nicely and my heart rate is right on (with chest strap) it gave me 39 calories burned for the 30 minute run! I'm slower than I used to be, but I am coming back 8 month post op ACL so I am working pretty hard! 39 calories? no.
  • I'm having the same issue. I go to Orangetheory fitness fit my workouts. I have long since abandoned using the optical HRM for my workouts. I have since started using the OTF external HRM paired to the watch. The watch is correctly recording and showing my HR as compared to OTF's monitors. But OTF is recording 500 calorie in 1 hour (which is correct based on effort and perceived exertion) and the 235 is only reporting 100 calories street 1 hour of working out. I can burn 100 calories in 1 hour if I just sit still!

Jo! I actually did a hard reset on my unit last night and ran this morning. I paired my external HRM and It seams to have corrected itself? though I later did a lifting session and not sure it recorded calories right there? maybe try the hard reset? of course your info will remain in the app, but not the watch if you do this. you will have to set it up as if it was new.
