Phantom Update?

Did anyone else receive an update this afternoon without any change to the software/firmware versions displayed on the watch? I received the Bluetooth/Ant 2.20 update on Monday, so this isn't that update but something else.

Here is what I'm currently showing on the watch after today's supposed update...

Software Version: 4.10 (f435734)
GPS: 3.00
Display: 2.10
Bluetooth/Ant: 2.20
WHR: 2.50 (10.01.82)
Connect IQ: 1.2.2

It was strange because the download kept failing through the Connect Android App, so I plugged into the computer and Garmin Express also showed an update available. I downloaded it, ran it on the watch, but nothing changed!
  • It's for the Time Zone Map only

    Time Zone Map

    Version: 17.00
    File Size: 566.1 KB
    Installation Time: 1 minute

I downloaded it, ran it on the watch, but nothing changed!
That's because there isn't a separate field in the About details for the Time Zone Map, I guess?
  • Thanks!

P.S. Where did you find that info about the time zone map? Was it in Garmin Express? I had my watched plugged in already when I opened express and it auto-installed without letting me see what it was.
  • Was it in Garmin Express?
    Yes, it was.
  • I've had this "phantom upgrade" happen to me yesterday and today. Hope it isn't in a loop...

Same here. I've had this update "install" three times in the last two days.
  • When I put my 235 onto Garmin Express, it said that dwMap wanted to do an update. But when I looked at the current version on my Android, it said I was completely up to date. I realized I haven't used dwMap yet, since there were other things I needed to do, so just deleted it off my watch completely. Not sure if that will change the update notices or not, but just another data point.

With Connect IQ apps, on your phone, it shows the current version in the store, and not necessarily the version on your watch.

If GE says you have an update to one of them, you have an update to install :)
  • Getting off subject, but thanks, I wasn't aware of that.
