just bought a garmin 235 . now try to charge . plug it in and nothing shows......is there supposed to be a charging light or something to show its is charging ? how long does it take first time to charge ?
  • plug it in and nothing shows…...
Into what did you plug the USB type-A connector on the supplied sync/charging cable? Is it a computer's USB port, or a USB charger? Did you put the clamp on the watch the right way up, with the embossed word GARMIN on the side of the watch's screen?
is there supposed to be a charging light
    No.
or something to show its is charging ?
Yes – a battery charging icon on the watch's display.
    • Photo of FR235 connected to a USB port on a computer, irrespective of whether Garmin Express is running or installed on the latter
    • Photo of FR235 connected to a USB charger
  • If you are using a USB wall charger and not a computer, you won't see anything special with most Connect IQ watchfaces. You'll see the battery level increasing if the watchface displays it, but that's it. In a few CIQ watchfaces I added some code to try and figure out of the battery is charging and I change the battery icon if so, but with it can show some "false positives" as it's a guess!

    For example:

    https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/3d8dd9a3-a90c-45b0-8170-043161dfc26f
version 0.12a If this watchface is running while being charged, the battery icon becomes an "up arrow". It may take a minute or so to change back when it's unplugged.

As far as "how long" that kind of depends on how charged it was when you got it, but after maybe an hour you should be good to go in any case.
