Training Calendar - How to use?

Ok, I have added upcoming future 'events' to my calendar on connect.garmin.com with 'goal times'...in the hope that when I turn up on race day, I can glance at my watch and remind myself of the target.

My watch is synced.

But, if I select [Run][Menu][Training][Training Calendar], I only see "Download your training calendar from Garmin Connect".

Am I missing something?

I think you have to connect it to the computer with Garmin Express and download the calendar to your watch. It doesn't do this automatically with sync.

I think the training calendar only pushes workouts to the watch.

I use it regularly and have never had events or notes come to this watch or the FR220, only pre-programmed workouts.
  • From the Garmin Connect Calendar look in the upper right corner where you can view by week, month, year, next to that is an arrow click the arrow and an option is there to send your workouts to your device.

Your workouts will show up on your Garmin after a sync. Set up your race as a workout with your goals in addition to as an event and it should show up.

Thanks all, creating my upcoming runs as "Workouts" rather than "Events" seems to be the answer.

I can see a couple of scheduled activities in my "Training Calendar" on the watch now, with the duration set to my target time

(The problem I'm trying to solve is simply that normally I would use my calendar to schedule events, but I lose visibility of that since I leave phone behind in car when I go out to a race and I always forget what time I'm chasing down)

Quick follow up to this...if I have a workout scheduled which is just a one step run activity, with a duration (which is my target time)....

If I go into the Training Calendar and click on "Do Workout", my activity won't just end at my target time will it, in case I don't hit my target - it'll continue to record based on my normal button presses?

Can't believe I've not really looked at Workouts before, I like the 'extra screen' that effectively counts down the time - hopefully doing Parkrun tomorrow morning I'll just glance and see 30seconds or so remaining of my target as I round that last corner! Much easier than looking at elapsed time, trying to remember what time I'm trying to beat (I run about 5 different PR courses so can never remember what time I'm trying to hit on each of them), and doing the simple maths to work out if I'm on track or not.

I think after 3 years, they still have the same problem
