Factory Reset

I've had my FR235 a week after it was released. Since then I've tried several different Connect IQ apps, widgets and data fields. There are several that I didn't care for and have deleted and I'm sure there are some leftover files on my watch. (Garmin Express shows everything I've downloaded). I'm thinking about doing a factory reset and then add the Connect IQ features that I want to "clean up" my watch. Does anyone know if there is a benefit or downside by do this? Will I lose all prior info, or will Garmin Connect retain it?

Update: I'm assuming the option to "restore defaults" is the same as doing a factory reset?
  • As I understand it, going back to factory settings will wipe all data from the device. As long as you sync before it all info will be on Garmin Connect and if you back up the contents of the watch before hand also then you can drag back files to speed up the return to a watch set up how you like, ie your personal records and held in the records.fit so out that back on the watch to reload them.

A couple of caviats. You can not restore VO2Max info. After a reset the watch needs to relearn you and so it may take some time to get back to the score you have before. The same is true for lactate threshold on the 630.

i believe the restore defaults does the same thing but I always use the key press manoeuvre
