Power Meter Compatibility - Tacx Neo

I currently use a Tacx Neo smart trainer which has cadence, speed and power meters which all use ANT+. I get speed/cadence sensor detection but not power. Is this a compatibility issue? ANyway I can get the two to link or is this for Tacx/Garmin to resolve?
  • I wouldn't assume support for power sensors were ever intended for the FR230/235

According to DC Rainmaker, neither the FR230 nor the FR235 supports ANT+ power sensors for cycling (although he notes that some Connect IQ apps could possibly obtain readings from power sensors, so I guess it means Garmin's firmware itself lends no user-accessible support, but the Connect IQ API may allow developers to connect and interact with such peripherals).

I had a look through the Garmin FR230/235 Owner's Manual, and could find no mention of the use of power sensors – or indeed any cycling-related sensors specifically – and the FR235's product specifications on Garmin's web site only state,

I don't think there is anything to resolve, when Garmin has apparently not promised any support for power sensors. I suppose you could pester Tacx to develop something with Connect IQ that will talk to its hardware product.

    OK, thanks for the info.

Would have been nice to have this feature. I can still upload my Zwift workouts to Strava but would like to have the power readings in GC. I have tried importing the fit file, but there seems to be an issue with the local time in the file and it imports at a different time than recorded which is a bit annoying! So currently I run and indoor ride activity to record the session in GC. Not sure if my Edge 100 will pick up all of the sensors. Think I will try that next.
  • Hi,

I can confirm that I've linked my 630 with my Tacx Vortex and it picks up speed and cadence but no power.
