if i set automatic date & time and turn off the watch then it needs gps signal to sync time (older models keep date and time even if they turn off and on)
this is a bug or a feature?
well say i can't go outside for gps signal and set the time manually.... good, i can set tima but not the date!
this is a bug or a (crazy) feature?

Why wouldn't you be able to go outside? Are you unable to receive an indoor GPS signal?

not sure... are you kidding me?

i'm reporting a bug and i'm saying previous models worked correctly keeping date and time even they were turned off!
what kind of response is "Why wouldn't you be able to go outside?" ?

of course i can recharge my FR, of course i can go outside
the question is another, i think it was clear!

my FR turned off during night, i charged in the morning: during charge time i have incorrect date and time - maybe i can go outside with a veeeeery long usb cable

when finisced charging, if i'm at work i am supposed to work (so strange life ah) and not to go outside just to wait gps signal, so during all day i saw incorrect date and time guessing what kind of time was recorded with my 24/7 activity recording....

I wasn't trying to offend you. It wasn't that clear what you initially said. Nor your reply.

Ok thank you and sorry for initial misunderstanding.
Now the point is clear.... so is it a bug? is it known in garmin?

If you are asking if the need to get a GPS lock to set the time correctly is a bug or a feature, its a feature. The only other way is to manually enter the time.

    1) no, i'm asking: FR235 doesn't keep track of time when turned off (previous models do): why? it IS a simple time & date function
    2) no, you CANNOT manually enter time AND DATE

for me point 1 + 2 = bug, or very bad implemented feature if you prefer

I've turned my watch off a few times, but never for an extended period of time such as overnight. My watch has always kept the correct time. I have heard of others that have experienced battery drain while the watch was turned off, but I don't recall if they also had issues with the date and time. I would suggest contacting support since an answer hasn't been provided here. You may also want to try charging your watch without turning it off. Perhaps that may be a temporary fix to your date/time issue until a proper fix or a determination can be made if your watch is defective.
  • Why are you turning your watch off at all? It could be that these days, it's not something that's commonly done. When it's just displaying the watchface, it burns very little battery and can go quite some time without needing to be charged.
  • Have exactly same problem in the last 3 years using my FR.. every time I need to charge I also need to set the time because gps lock *** everyone is saying, works very irregularly depending where you are.

If I set time manually, I cannot set the date manually and it keeps showing incorrectly.

Result: I have to choose to have the date or the time displaying correctly.

Displaying the correct time and date is a must for any watch.. (seems very obvious) it’s a joke to do any work around to keep date and time accurate.

6 bloody years and no fix to set date manually. Hope Garmin is doing better with my privacy and data.
