slower satellite detection since 4.10 update

Hi,

Since I received the 4.10 firmware update last week, I did go to three runs, and for each of them I noticed a much longer wait time before GPS got ready. I mean by longer it was less than 30secs before the update and now it last up to 4mins.

I've sync my watched multiple times through the Connect Mobile app which didn't help. Is there a way I can get back to a quicker sync delay?

Please let me know if you've experienced that or have a tip on how to get things back to normal.

Thanks !
  • I reckon this is a software issue, not hardware. Ephemeris data is downloaded to the watch to speed up the satellite acquisition and this seems broken. I would try deleting and re-adding your watch to Garmin Connect after deleting your EPO.bin (which I believe is the file containing the data). Or if you want 'proper' instructions call Garmin support and I reckon they will have a recommended procedure to fix this

I think I have an explanation : the Ephemeris sync that you're refering to might only be happening with the computer sync with the USB cable. I usually only use my smartphone to sync datas, and use a phone charger to charge the watch, but that's not enough to sync "everything".

If anyone as the issue you're more than welcome to confirm if it works better after syncing your watch through a computer with the Garmin Connect software on it.
