I just installed; all seems fine so far. Since the sticky announcement is closed, post your experiences here.

Sticky: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?344357-Firmware-Version-4-10-Now-Available!
  • What I noticed with SW 4.10 is that Activity recognition is better. If I move there is more frequent HR reading than in the past. For this the burned calories are more accurate compared with my Fitbit Charge HR. Anybody same experience?

Not with this software update. Those things are still being actively worked on.

Thanks for reply. Hope it's soon, not really fir for purpose or what it's being actively sold on.
  • My Garmin Express won't run (and I tried the directions in https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?343656-GE-won-t-run ) I'll be calling Garmin Support for that tomorrow.

According to the release notes: "This update can also be downloaded through the Garmin Connect Mobile app." I can't find where to do that, at least on an Android GC. Any feedback?

    Thanks.
  • Im not going to try anything HR related for now until that update comes.

I've just tried the pace alerts in custom workouts sat on the couch. They are working now.

Alert sounds seem slightly louder but that might be just because I'm sat in a quiet room.

Issue I need to test is the smoothness of the countdowns between workout steps... The beeps are sometimes unevenly spaced and a bit laggy if that makes sense? Not sure of anyone else has noticed that but as I approach the end of a step they seem to be staggered at random, like bad morse code. Looking at the countdown timer for the step it often jumps too.. so it goes 5, 4, 2, 1. It still lasts 5 seconds, it just shows 4 for a second longer! Tried to get it on video tonight but was too dark.

Anyone know if the autolap during workout steps issue is resolved? Won't be able to test that til Sunday.

this isnt an 'issue'. its a deliberately added function, apparently at the request of users.

personally i hate it and would love the option to disable it during workouts

Yep, i get this as well. Like stuttering, and is very frustrating. I haven't had a chance to check if this was one of the bug fixes.

I think you misunderstand the problem. It's an erratic behaviour that seems to be related to a lack of processing power or memory on the watch (like it's trying to do too many things at once). On both the 210 and 220 the countdown was smooth and even, and always reliable.

My Watch updated without me connecting it to my PC. It must have downloaded through my Android GC App then notified me on the watch.

I just got mine to update through the Android GC app, but it's somewhat of a "magical" process. What I found worked this time was to first refresh the app multiple times by pulling down. Then I went on the watch and forced it to sync per the sync option. Finally I hit the run button like I was going to start a run, and the watch indicated an update was available. I also find this works best after you have consumed at least one scotch on the rocks like I have done...

    oh that.
i only ever did distance based intervals with my 210 so occasionally the countdown was a little jumpy and uneven but i just put that down to my varying pace.

i've done one session with this watch using timed intervals but i was too buggered to pay much attention to the countdown other than praying it would start/finish.

Thanks. When I went out to pick up a kid at school my watch said "Update Ready to install" I was totally surprised! But still want to get Express working again. If it's not one thing, it's the other. :-)
