Automatic time not right and steps keep resetting

Yesterday my watched powered of all by itself. When I turned it back on, the time was messed up and the steps had reset. The time still is not right is I set it to Automatic time, I can set it manually. And today my steps reset again. It's stuck on zero and says my goal is 10,000 steps. I reset the GPS It didn't help and I restore the factory settings and that didn't help. I'm out of ideas and I'm getting frustrated. I hope its not broke.
  • Number 1 silly question, have you had a good GPS lock?

It has never had a problem before now.
Stupid question - How do I know how good my signal is? I do not have any bars on the side.

I´ve had the same problem for a few weeks now. The "automatic time" is off by 6-7 hours, so annoying! When I set it manually there is another problem; then the date is 1 day behind.

Is there some setting to set a timezone perhaps that I can´t find?
  • You only get GPS lock when you go into an Activity that turns on GPS. It's not an on-all-the-time thing.

Have you gone outside and gone into the Run or Bike activity and waited for it to say GPS Ready (or whatever it actually says)? The auto time setting only occurs when the GPS is active, and that only happens when you go into an activity that turns on the GPS receiver. The 235 does not get the time/date from your computer or phone like the fitness trackers; it follows the pattern of Garmin's other Forerunner GPS running watches.

Aside from that, two resets like that sound like a problem, possibly hardware. If it continues to do that I'd suggest either exchanging at your retailer if it's brand new or calling Garmin Support if you've had it a while.
