Map not showing up?

Former Member
Former Member
Today I ran this morning and took a hike in the afternoon. GPS connected as always and I was off...seemed to be tracking my distance but when it synced to garmin connect there was no map available. I'm not sure what is going on - have had since Christmas and this has never happened.
  • That has been happening for some people with a 630 (and a 235) as well - see https://forums.garmin.com/showthread...sing-GPS-Track

    Have reported it to Garmin.

My advice there (which seemed to have resolved it) was to do a hard reset - see post 26

Garmin is aware of this issue and are actively investigating.
  • Garmin 230 - no map of run, no longitude nor latitude data in TCX file

    Hi Folks,

I have been using a Garmin 230 for a few months now with no problems until two runs ago.

All of a sudden no location data is being recorded - which means no map of my run. It does record the distance. I am running in the exact same location. Here is the top of an exported TCX file for one of the problem runs. Note no location data. Below this is a run from last week which does have longitude and latitude data. Anyone have any clues as to what is going on?

    Run with no location data.

    8 months later same issue

I have exactly the same issue with my 630. Altitude and distance are been tracked spot on, but yet no latitude & longitude are recorded.

This started happening to my FR 230 on Saturday and has affected my last 2 runs. No location/gps data though everything else looks fine... apparently this is a known issue but I haven't heard anything official.

Happened to me for the first time yesterday on 230 - pace and distance information garbage (as though GPS drop out). I wonder if this is related to a recent software update because it has never happened before
  • curzon

    Same issue last Sunday.
    Got gps lock and run.
No alerts that gps was lost
No map in Garmin connect/ strava

Last update was couple of weeks ago, worked fine.
And a year and 1100km before that - not a single issue like that they
  • Turn your watch off and back on again. Fixed!
  • No luck with power cycling

I've powercycled my 235 several times and it hasn't resolved the issue. It's still producing FIT files without position data.

I noticed that the GPS is clicking in extremely quickly, even after the power cycle. Is there anyway to force it to dump the cached satellite info?

Also, Garmin, this has been an issue since February and there's still no permanent fix?
