outdoor swimming

anyone tried the FR 235 for outdoor swimming?
And....does the gps work in the open water? Measures it correctly your swimming distance?

You probably will find neither will work.

GPS does not work in the water so the tri watches (920 etc) have algorithms to try and make some sense of the times you do get a GPS reading when your arm is above water.
Will work in a swim cap however.

but I think the 235 also uses those algorithms, right?

No swim algorithms in a 235 am afraid.
