Any recommendations on what Activity setting to use to record a Zumba/High impact aerobic class? Would at least like to be able to capture my calories burned. I tried 'Other' yesterday but it only captured my time.
if you use a HR monitor, it will give you the calories.
The calories are calculated automatically by Garmin Connect, but a a heart rate monitor is required.
In order to capture your calories burned it would need to know what your doing. When doing a run it estimates based on your settings and some predetemined algorithms to give you an estimated burn. With the other you need to have a heart rate monitor so it knows what your doing and how your heart rate is fluxating.
I ran into the same thing as you at first, then bought the heart rate monitor strap and BOOM
I too was wondering this same thing.
What I have been doing is wearing the watch during class - then I edit the activity which is normally logged as 'running' automatically -
Update name to Zumba or Aerobics/Soul Grooves - change the activity type to Cardio (under equipment - although I know it isn't equipment) and this way I still keep the calorie, distance, and intesity information from the vivofit 3 band! :)
