Dressier band options?

What do folks think of Garmin offering non rubber straps for the 235? It is an okay watch to wear daily even to work if your work environment is casual (it works with sportscoat + slacks/jeans IMHO), but would be nice to have some leather/nylon options for dressier occasions. Not sure how it would look though.

The Fenix 3 HR has those options of course but for me the Fenix 3 is just too big and heavy to wear 24/7 (I'm wearing the 235 during sleep as well).

I have submitted a new idea request at http://www8.garmin.com/contactUs/ideas/
  • That would be nice, so perhaps they'll have an option.

I'm just thrilled Garmin released black/gray version without bright cartoon colors. I can pass off my black/gray 235 with a suit just fine, did so for years with a black 610. :D
  • The main point of the supplied strap is to allow you to more easily wear it fairly tight and a bit up the wrist for best optical HR performance.

Pretty sure the 230/630 straps are the same size (well they look the same as I am looking at both now). They would not work so well as harder to get tight.

I ordered a velcro strap from Amazon with beaded flowers on it. You have to cut/hand sew a bit for the hr monitor but not bad. I wish I could attach a pix but I can't figure it out, sorry.

As TIMGROSE stated, the band that comes with the FR235 is designed to have a bit of flexibility so the watch can be worn a little tighter so the sensor has better contact with your skin and not compromise on comfort. I suppose a leather band would make the watch look more fashionable than casual, but you would most likely be sacrificing the sensor's capabilities. As long as the user understands this, I think it's a great idea.
