Way to block lap button during workouts

Sort of feature request to fix flaw in design

I have too many occasional 'lap' button presses
Two scenarios
1. I am trying to do something while running - adjust music volume or change data field and press 'back' button one time more then needed

2. I run in winter with 230 half covered with glove (do that when it is really cold - -15c or so to save battery). I look to the watch (moving the glove by hand) and when I put the glove back, lap is sometimes occasionally pressed.

Not an issue when I just run, but both are a serious issue if I am trying to do structured workout.
And I had not a single occasional lap button pressed on neither 210 or 610

Is there any way to disable lap button in workouts?
Or force a user to long press instead of press?

Garmin, read it as a feature request please
  • You can lock the device by doing the following:

    Start the Activity
Press and Hold the Arrow up button
Scroll down to "Lock Device" and press Enter "Top right button"

Wait a few seconds and the watch will return to the Activity Screen!

You'll have to unlock the device to stop the activity... Follow the on screen instructions to unlock.

    +1
I also have the same scenario as yours.
I had sent a request to Garmin but they never reported back.
I wish there was a way to disable the lap button (the epix does).

This would work for sure, but for me it's still a workaround.
I'd rather have the option to disable the lap button.

Not a solution at all, unfortunately

For the first case I described - I am _using_ the watch and press back button one time more then needed when getting to the running screen from menu.
Locking device won't help at all

For the second use case - I still want up and down button be operational, and locking the device is to much fuss to be done during run and takes too much time to wait till 'device unlocked' screen disappears (it takes you to 5 seconds alone, which means I need 10-15 seconds of running with my arm at the watch to simply change screens)
  • I would love that too. Unwanted lap press are a pain in the ;)
