I did two combat indoor intensity training dvd using the other function but it looks like I was running in a circle. Is there a way to just train with just the heart rate monitor for things like insanity and p90x?

Thanks.

Yes, turn off the GPS. For something like that use the 'Other' activity profile and just make sure you have the GPS turned to OFF and have your heart rate monitor connected. Then, you'll essentially just be measuring your time and heart rate, which is what should be done for indoor activities like the elliptical or weight training if you're looking to track those types of activities.
  • There's not a HRM only setting or profile for this watch.

There was an problem with earlier versions of the firmware where profiles that were set to not use GPS for indoor activity's would still use it and cause the sort of problem you had.

Try making sure you're on the latest firmware and that GPS is turned off for the "Other" profile.

Each activity profile lets you choose the GPS setting. Go to the Other profile and press down for the menu, which will be for that particular profile. Click on Activity Settings and scroll down until you see the GPS option. Choose OFF and you should be good to go. Now, each time you choose the Other activity profile, the GPS will be off by default.

You can do the same for the other activity profiles, as well. For example, for the Run profile you would go into its menu and then change it accordingly, either GPS, GPS + GLONASS, or OFF. For the Indoor Run profile, you would want to go into its menu and turn the GPS to OFF, as well. Coming from the Forerunner 220, this is a nice, new option to choose specific settings for the different profiles.
