Setting Resting Heart Rate (RHR)

When you go to Activities | Menu | My Stats | User Profile | Heart Rate Zones you have the choice of setting your Resting HR. One of the options is Use Average. What is exactly going on here? How does the Use Average selection actually work?

If I select Use Average, it seems to change the value to the current 7 day average that is in my FR235, but it doesn't seem keep adjusting as my 7 day average changes. I have noticed it change before, it just doesn't seem to track what he FR235 is showing. Do you have to keep going back and updating Use Average RHR manually?
  • I think that is just to give you an idea of what you might want to put in there.

If you select this, it just takes current "average" value for your RHR and does not self adjust.

After all, it doesn't make a great deal of sense keep adjusting your RHR here (and so changing your HR zones) based on day to day fluctuations.

Something else is going on with this setting. I think it might just be self adjusting.

Yesterday I selected to use the Use Average setting, which changed it to 43 bpm. Today when I viewed the Resting HR value, it shows 48 bpm.

What in My Stats, Heart Rate Zones?

When I look at resting HR under Activities | Menu | My Stats | User Profile | Heart Rate Zones | Resting HR.

Today it appears to be working like I was expecting, as it is showing 43 bpm under the Resting HR stat and the Use Average option is 43 as well. This number matches what the HR wiget states as my 7 day average.

I'm wondering if GC is pushing a number to the 235? Currently, GC shows the 7 day RHR average as 48 bpm.
