235 Sensor Hub software (WHR) version 2.50

Just noticed there's an update available.

Changes made from version 2.40 to 2.50:
Addressed issue which can cause wrist heart rate to remain on a fixed value.

  • The 3.30 update seems to work just fine.
The problem lies with the newest heart rate (WHR) update, ie: 2.50. I would recommend using the previous version of the WHR. My problems started after I downloaded the newest 2.50 update. The "locked" 66bpm reading, and the heart rate dropping to the low 40s. This doesn't happen during a workout, only when I'm sitting down is when I notice the significant drop.

I updated my sons fr235 to 3.3 and surprised the 2.5 update went with it :-( surprisingly it's working at it should. As brand new , he got it with 3.2 and 2.4 firmware already.

The pace has been addressed where at 3.2 it was measuring pretty fast. I get to compare
With my fenix 3. As for the heart rate , works correctly but tends to jump
Down or up quickly vs a hr strap but not a deal breaker. I'll keep
An eye out of stuck hr
  • Will there ever be an update to this software? I'm on this forum every day and it sure seems like there are still plenty of issues.
  • Is this Sensor Hub software different than the firmware updates (which is now 4.1)?

  • Yep. Look in 'about' (settings: system: about I think) and you'll see versions for all different modules eg WHR, display, touchscreen, wifi CIQ etc

  • Ahhh I see! I didn't realize 'About' had different screens I can scroll through.

  • So we are now at two months since the last WHR update. I'm still very interested in buying this watch but Garmin's lack of support and communication is very disturbing. I know it seems to work fine for some people but there also seems to be plenty of outstanding issues especially with the heart rate monitoring. I'm certainly not expecting perfection. All I'd like to see is some effort on their part to make some improvements. Instead we get no updates and very little or no communication on the subject. Find it hard to believe that after two months they don't even have a beta of an update. It would be very disappointing if Garmin has already moved past this product to focus on something else.

Very disappointing indeed, especially since the 72 bpm bug for example has been fixed for the vivosmart hr for quite a long time already. Feels like a 'we don't care about you as you bought our product already anyway' to the customers from garmin...
  • Definitely seems to be a little more activity on the Vivosmart HR forum. On Friday Garmin posted info on a new beta. So there is at least one product group still working over there.
  • I've got a new BT/ANT+ hub update yesterday - 2.2.

Has anyone got any news on the changes in it?
  • The update notes were something like 'changes for production' which basically means no change for the user.
