Broadcast Heart Rate

Hi,

Just a quick question, is it possible to Broadcast the Heart Rate whilst doing an activity? as I use the watch whilst I am doing indoor cycling on my turbo trainer which can pick up the heart rate in Broadcast mode, but I cannot seem to record an activity at the same time.

If anyone knows how to do this it would be much appreciated.
  • I think it's an either or situation. You're either using the watch to record an activity, or you're using it as an HRM and broadcasting your HR to another device which is recording the activity.
  • Yes when you are broadcasting HR, the 235 becomes a virtual HR strap and so you can't also record an activity. However if you are broadcasting HR perhaps your target device can record your activity?

That said in broadcast mode it still updates the HR graph, takes readings for 24x7 recording and computes RHR.
In fact I usually leave it on broadcast mode when I want to try and get a decent RHR value as
    (a) you can glance at your HR at any time
    (b) Being "always on" the values look far more believable than random visits to the HR widget page.
    (c) It also tells me the time of day!

Thanks for the replies so it is an either or situation.

The Set-up I now use is to have the watch in broadcast mode and do a workout on my Edge 800 at the same time, to collect all the data which also gets displayed on screen as i am working out.

I also agree with you Tim the watch seems more stable at displaying heart rate in Broadcast mode and is the way to go if RHR is important to you.

I also tried the watch on the bike against an old garmin strap and found that generally it was within 1 BPM that was being recorded by the strap, so I'm happy with that.
