Lost sleep data, all day heart rate data, step data, watch reset, time wrong

I plugged my watch into the charger this morning to sync as I my phone wasn't charged. The cradle appear to slip, and then I saw the Garmin logo for a split second and the the charging screen. i synced the watch and when i checked the sleep times it was out by several hours. What I usually do in this situation is edit the sleep time and this usually fixes the problem. today it didn't it just showed 8 hours os so of light sleep, which is wrong. When I disconnected the watch it rebooted and showed the wrong time and i had to get a GPS lock to reset it. I tried syncing again and it didn't fix the problem. i also lost the step count until I reset the time and hours of heart rate data corresponding to the time the watch was showing (15.14 wed 06) and the time it was reset (around 11am thurs 07). Its also missing data from 15:28 today until 19:35 and the all day heart rate graph. At 19:35 i plugged the watch in to charge again. I also had been for a run in the time between and it tracked the HR fine and uploaded it to GC. The step count from my run is included, but the step chart shows me as being inactive for the same period.

Sooo.... What's this all about then?

I had the same problem about an hour ago. However, my watch was on my wrist! I felt it vibrate and looked down and it was the Garmin logo. I checked my HR & steps and all were reset. My time was also wrong. Very odd.
  • The individual activity tracking and all-day activity are done separately, so it is possible to get corruption in one that doesn't affect the other. I had this happen yesterday, so my all-day stats are messed up (heart rate, movement and steps), yet my stats for my run and quick exercise session are both fine.

Also if your watch resets or you force it to reset the time will come up as GMT. You need to go outside and open up the running activity (or any activity that uses GPS) and let it lock onto the GPS to update the date and time.
I found this out yesterday. Yes you can manually change the time yourself, but you can't change the date! I live in New Zealand (GMT +13 at the moment) so I couldn't set the correct date and time manually. I had to go and stand outside in the rain to get a GPS lock :/

My current timezone is GMT. My watch time reset by about -14.5 hours. GC says it appears I've changed timezones but I haven't. The only thing I can think of os that I unplugged it from my Mac without ejecting it first may have caused the corruption. Although the restarts happened when I plugged it in. Funnily enough I lost sleep tracking on the same night last week but didn't notice anything like a reboot or incorrect time but the chnage time zone warning did come in GC

Thanks for this information. I encountered this issue today when I removed the charger cable from the watch.

For the third time in two weeks I have lost a big chunk of HR data in GC. Ticket already logged, but not heard back. Time to call again :-( Happens when I sync with a PC. Data lost from the last time I synch'd. Not sure if it affects my overall calorie stats etc. Can see the data on my watch when viewing the 4 hour trace so something is definitely happening when connecting to GC. I'm always careful to eject the watch in Windows after synching.
