"power cycle" or reset the 235 ... how?

I have an issue with my alarm (unpredictably) not going off and i'm hoping that a reset will do the trick.

I see that's it's often suggested that a "power cycle" (i think) or hard reset can fix such bugs. How do you do this? What do you lose by doing this?
  • Power cycle is to just power it off and on again. Just hold down the "power"/"backlight" button (upper left) until the Power off menu comes on.

Hard reset is when you hold down the power button for at least 15 secs until it turns off itself.

You don't loose anything doing either.

There is also a master reset which is a "last resort" reset which does return watch to factory defaults although if you save all your files on the watch then you can restore some settings.

To power cycle just long press the light on button. You'lol then get a menu asking if you want to power off. Select yes. Long press the light button to switch back on. As far as I know you'll lose the last 4 hours heart rate graph. I'd sync first. I've done it once and as far as I could see all my settings were the same afterwards.

    Edit: That's just bad timing

Thanks guys. Protip for those doing this: go outside and reacquire a gps signal or your time might be a bit out.

Hopefully that'll fix my problem. Seems a bit trivial, but waking up on time is normally pretty critical to me. I need to be able to trust it will work every time.
