Resting Heart Rate (RHR)

I've noticed that the RHR graphs over the last 7 days in Garmin Connect looks a bit different from the one on the HR widget on the watch. Also the watch gives me a RHR average of 49 while in GC I get 52.

Anybody noticed that as well?

Also, what do you use for personal settings, i.e. RHR used for training zones? Do you use the average or the minimum you got recently?

Only just spotted this thread. Just to add my results:

    Ave RHR watch = 46
    Ave RHR GC = 51

A difference of 5 is quite a lot IMO. Also the delta is not consistent from day to day. I.e. the 7 day trend line shape is different. I can only conclude that GC is taking a different low point for the day? Maybe its taking a value outside of sleep time? I.e. using this criteria? The basal or resting heart rate (HRrest) is defined as the heart rate when a person is awake, in a neutrally temperate environment

Its so frustrating not knowing how these things are calculated, if they arte calculated differently or if there is a genuine issue!

Garmin has receive reports of the resting heart rate value on the watch not matching the value that is displayed in Garmin Connect. This is something that is being actively investigated.

Yes I have been in contact and have sent Garmin data, screen shots etc. Hopefully they can come up with a fix.

I typically turn off all day monitoring (another issue re heart rate and crazy calorie burns) but put into broadcast mode for overnight. I get a resting heart rate of 34-37 however on GC I get RHR of 40. Does anyone know then what I should set my rhr for running? (Currently auto set at 40, I assume it's taken from GC, rather than the watch itself) and whats the likely more accurate number? I previously had a MIO and that sat around mid 30's upon waking.
