GPS + GLONASS trail stopped recording in middle of a run; all other stats recorded

Forgive me if this is a duplicate thread, but I couldn't find anything about this in a quick search of the forum.

I went for a 6.5 mile run this morning with Firmware 3.2 and GPS + GLONASS enabled with 1 second recording. Half way through the run, the GPS trail disappears (as viewed on Garmin Connect) even through the splits, cadence, mileage, heart rate, etc continued. Is this a known bug? I have never experienced anything like this in 3 years of running with the FR 410 in this exact same location! I assume the activity was just basing the second half of the run mileage off of historical stride length and current cadence, but why did the GPS trail disappear mid-run? The timer was never stopped or paused!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Doug
  • Can you please post the GC link.

I have seen some reports of this happening on various devices over the years. It happened to me once with a 620.
The "problem" with devices like the 235 is that if it loses GPS (and GLONASS!) (as sounds like happened here) the internal accelerometer just seamlessly takes over and you usually aren't aware.

Can you get a GPS fix on your watch now?

    Tim,
Thank you for the quick response! Here is the GC link:

I just got a GPS fix in < 2 seconds outside. The only reason I even realized during the run that something was wrong was because I saw all blanks in the elevation field on one of my data pages. Other than that, there was no indication that GPS signal was lost (no alarm, warning flag, etc).

Please note that the elevation and GPS trail stop recording at about 29 minutes into a 58 minute run.

Thanks again for your help / attention,
    Doug
