Has anyone had this, after returning my first 235 2 days into owning the second one while its in watch mode it keeps losing its settings for time , date , steps and heart rate recording, clock is on automatic but doesnt seem to update when i sync in express so had to manually set it, but 2 hours later it did the same thing again, at this point it was on version 3.10 as it came to me so i have updated it to 3.20 last night, today it has done the same thing again, tried turning it off and back on but it has done it again just now :(
any suggestions or is another back to garmin tomorrow?

looking into the clock losing its setting would i be right in thinking more of a gps issue as this controls / sets the clock, as of 13.40pm on the 27 / 12 /2015 the clock is saying 23.57 sat 26th :-(

tried through connect on phone via bluetooth and on pc and cable but reading through the 230 forum the clock is set via gps which is turned on but no glonass.. put the watch in run mode and waited for gps to be ready which then corrected the time and date... sadly a hour later its gone to a random time and xmas day!!
cant figure out why its losing its time?
  • Have you managed to get a GPS fix with this one as yet?

yes done 3 outdoor runs with it, all got a gps fix no problems and on looking at the map and comparing with runkeeper on my phone within .01km pretty much identical each time... its only when its on watch i have any problems where it just goes to a random time and loses all step info and hr tracking... i then have to put it into a mode that uses gps to get time and date back, but step and heart rate is gone, which isnt the end of the world bt more concerning as it keeps doing it
  • Try a hard reset but first put the clock back into Automatic mode.

For the reset, with it powered on, hold down the power button for at least 15 secs until turns off then turn on again. You will probably then need to go outside to get a GPS fix and reset the clock again.

Thanks Tim... should have said tried the reset yesterday as well as per the manual, i'm quite lucky where i am i can get a gps fix in the house, installed beta 3.25 since my last message... fingers crossed its keeping time... if it works... A i'll be impressed and B i'll report back see if it helps anyone else, think if this fails i have no more ideas other than a support call once the xmas hols are over... its a shame as love the watch.. even more so when it behaves :D

well for 3 days it was all good, the only thing i can see that was different i was using it for activities which used the gps, first rest day after and it kept time fine but the second day it went off on its own again to a random date and time, i tried to set a activity going and it wouldnt show gps ready to get a lock to set the time, indoors or outdoors made no difference, several resets , changing to gps and glonass in settings and then going back to gps i got a fix and time came back to what it should be, updated to 3.30 but time has gone wrong again, and again i cant get a gps ready in a running activity in the same place i got one yesterday, as a above few resets, gps settings changes to glonass , off on and eventually it came back, not sure if this is hardware or software now but its annoying having a expensive watch that cant tell the time :(
not sure if there is going to turn out to be a connection with this thread https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?337942-Can-t-set-date-time-is-wrong-when-set-automatically

well for 2 days attempting a couple of days putting the watch into run mode and then i tried cycling mode i could not get a gps fix inside or otside, all the bars just stayed greyed out, yet tonight sat in the house i put it in run mode and i have gps ready come up within 20 seconds and all bars are green so a good signal.. very strange one and inconsistent... thinking a phone call to garmin tomorrow see if they can throw any light on it... my main concerns are that it loses the time and date in the first place and secondly why the gps isnt getting a fix at all sometimes even though my old garmin gets a fix everytime, i dont live in a built up area to block gps signal so baffled

well after a conversation with garmin support yesterday, watch number 2 is going back- itshouldnt lose time and i should have been able to get a gps fix to sort it - 3rd time lucky i hope if not time to give up and find something else, cant fault garmins support or the retailer i purchased from but not feeling the love for this watch no more, or should i say lack of faith in its ability to do what its meant to
