Pairing 235 with candence/speed bike sensors

I have not been able to pair my Garmin 235 with my Garmin cadence/speed sensor. I had no issues with pairing the 620 or even my old 405. But the 235 does not pick it up, does not even look for it. I maybe missing a step?
Thanks

    Me too

Glad to know I'm not the only one. My GSC 10 works fine on my FR 910XT and on my Bontrager Node 1, but under the Settings -> Sensors and Accessories it only shows an existing connected foot pod and there doesn't seem to be a pairing mode for new sensors.
  • Try going into your activity while the sensors are awake (not into the "sensors and accessories" menu). It should pair them automatically from the activity screen.

I have actually had much better success pairing from the Sensors & Accessories section (normally accessed from the relevant activity profile section) AND with the sensors being awake of course.

My watch picked up my Bontrager DuoTrap speed/Cadence sensor on it's own. I had to hold the watch extremely close for it to pair though. I think the manual said within a CM.

    Problem Fixed

Talked to Garmin support this morning. I had to remove my footpod pairing (Settings -> sensors and accessories -> FP XXXXX -> remove) and then go back to Sensors and Accessories while holding near to the GSC 10 (while peddling) and the watch found the GSC 10 almost instantly. Then, just go back to Sensors and Accessories and shake the foot pod near the watch and they re-paired. I assume that if you had a HR strap paired as well you might have to remove it as well before pairing the GSC 10, since the bike sensor wants to be the first sensor paired for some reason.

    Hope this helps!

This didn't work for me. Did a long cycle ride with the GSC 10 sending to my bike computer and 910 XT, but my FR 235 never picked it up. See my solution below.
  • I asked Garmin for some advice on pairing if you are having problems. It seems that the GSC 10 does not have to be first paired device. They said:

    # Remove all sensors from the paired list under Menu>Settings>Sensors and Accessories
    # Then go *back* to the Activity Profile selection page (where you see the activity profile icon and Activity & Menu with the up/down arrows)
    # While on this page, hold the device directly *over/on top* each sensor.
    # The device will pick up the HR, Foot Pod, GSC10 sensors while on this page

Keep in mind though, that the device will *not display* the icon for the GSC10 *if and only if* a Run profile is selected.
When swiping over to a Bike profile, the icons will appear. You will also notice that the 'Foot Pod' icon has now *disappeared*.
