Tracking sleep

Yesterday, it was my first night with the FR235 and I was hoping to get an insight on my sleep pattern.
However the watch did not record anything. It just says 10 hours of sleep as I entered my "time to bed" and "time to wake" in Garmin Connect. Is there anything else I have to do to enter sleep mode? Oh, I did put the watch on "do not disturb" so I wouldn't get any notifications during the night.
  • Sleep tracking error... May be co-incidence

My Fénix 3 has been recording sleep data fine for over a month, but last night none was recorded according to Garmin Connect. I seem to recall that there was a Garmin Connect/ Express update yesterday. It may be that you have just started tracking at exactly the same time as a system bug...

It's my understanding the watch automatically goes into "do not disturb" mode during the hours you set as normal sleep. I'm pretty sure I read that in the manual somewhere yesterday. I also just got mine, so I have been reading up quite a bit on it.

Last night (14/12/15) I turned my watch off and went to sleep. I got up in the morning, input manually the time I went to bed and woke up... Garmin Connect showed a graph of my light and deep sleep... interesting since the watch was on the bedside table and turned off for the entire time... I wasn't skeptical before but I am now!

Someone must have borrowed your watch while you were sleeping :D

seriously, I had that one night as well. I just set fall asleep and wake up time in my iOS GC app manually and I could see the sleeping pattern that did not show before. It could also have bee because the GC sleeping module has bee limited the last days... it seems to be ok now. see here: https://connect.garmin.com/de-DE/status
  • So you just have to enter your normal sleep time in Garmin Connect and the watch should read your sleep pattern? I'll try it tonight, without putting the watch in "no disturb" mode.

Edit: I just manually put the time when I went to bed and woke up and the sleep graph appeared? Bug?

As far as I know the sleep time is for the DND mode. GC takes the longest resting period for tracking a sleep "session".

If any sleep session has wrong times, just correct it in GC, however I could only set the fall asleep and wake up times in the mobile app. In theb service I could just change the duration. Maybe I havent found it yet in the webservice.

When you are in Garmin Connect Mobile and you are on the main sleep screen summary, click on the solid light blue bars. All those bars are showing is how long you slept each night for the the past 7 days in this view and it doesn't matter which blue bar you click on.

Once you have clicked on those solid blue bars, it will change to a more detailed summary for the past week. It will show the average hours of "deep sleep", "light sleep", and "awake" time during the sleep cycle. The blue bars will now be different colors based on what cycle it detected.

If you click on one of those bars, it will then go deeper into the details for the night that you clicked on. Here it shows a little more details for that night such as the detected level of movement.

Hopefully it was recording and all you needed to do was delve deeper into the app views.

    Cheers
  • The sleep tracking is not working very well
Yesterday and today I was sleeping while commuting with bike to work (and recording workout) When I arrived at work I continued sleeping.... My boss didn't like it :p
