Feature Requests and Suggested Improvements

Okay, completed my first run with my new Forerunner 235 and I'll start off with the following:

Speed Source from Foot Pod on outdoor runs please!

This would be a great addition to the watch. It was a nice improvement on the 920xt and the 235 could definitely stand to have the same feature.
  • Wingsuit flying was my favorite activity type to bash prior to them finally adding yoga to the list.
Overall I think they need to make it easier for users to create their own activity types as well as exercise names in the Strength Training app that the newer watches have.

Have you looked at the new badges? I think Garmin might have a sense of humour!

I'll be going for this one as my next Zumba class...
  • Turns them off in where, GC Web? Yes then just delete the tile. In the app, no, but then again they are hidden away there.

    Key tones.

I would like an option to mute the keys sound always but when on activity.

I mean, when I'm checking something on the watch when i'm in the office, i want the sound off, but when i'm running i prefer to hear the sound when i press the lap or start/stop button.

    THanks!
  • Since update 7.70 the GPS of the Forerunner 235 isn't correct anymore. A few months ago I've contacted Garmin about this, they said they were aware of the issue and would fix it.

But they didn't. Update 7.80 has the same GPS issues.

    Please fix it!
  • Please, Please, Please add distance from footpod option. This was a feature enabled on the 735xt. I’m pretty sure the 235 could do that no problem. I actually love my 235 but would really like this feature/option. But don’t want to upgrade just for that small feature. STRYD user, so this will enable super accurate distance.

    Thanks
  • To ForeRunner 245: 1. Add "seconds behind target pace" data field, 2. Make new data field configurable from the clock, 3. remove status bar since it disturbs the data fields, or move it to right, 4. make 100% of front as display area (not 80% like now).
  • Please add "do not disturb" option to home-screen menu (i.e. the menu accessed by holding the UP arrow button).

This is a setting people have to frequently access if wearing the watch in daily life - i.e. in the office - and no not want notifications disturbing them at certain points. At the moment, having to navigate to the settings menu in the watch is too slow and cumbersome to do regularly. Alternatively I have to disconnect my mobiles bluetooth, which is also a hassle.

I don't know why there is just one other in training. Running is only event where indoor and outdoor. So there could be Other with gps and other without gps. Don't want to change settings for own workout plans if those are linked to Other. Also don't like to add training plans to indoor running or running if those are not running. Yes, it is runners watch but there could be couple options to own workout plans. As those are linked to training. Or gps on / off could be in workout plan.
  • ^ You can turn GPS ON/OFF when using OTHER.

Do you suppose Garmin even reads this thread, or is this just wishing on coins in a fountain?

Since wishes are horses, here is mine:

I would like a way to lock the activities menu, without locking the entire device. My wrist/collar keeps bumping the activities button and putting the watch into activities mode which drains power and causes it to start counting down to power save mode. The only way I can stop this from happening is to lock the entire watch. But when the watch is locked, I can't use the light (making the watch useless at night time) and I can't clear/cycle notifications.
