Feature Requests and Suggested Improvements

Okay, completed my first run with my new Forerunner 235 and I'll start off with the following:

Speed Source from Foot Pod on outdoor runs please!

This would be a great addition to the watch. It was a nice improvement on the 920xt and the 235 could definitely stand to have the same feature.
  • Suggested Translation

    Hello,

There is a translation error for the Portuguese language.
Can you please try to fix it?
I think it would be a T (Tuesday in Portuguese)
    Firmware version 7.50
    Thank you

Adjustable backlight brightness (I personally find it too bright so would like to dim it to save battery)
Ability to set a different vibration pattern when phone calls come in as it just vibrates once like any other notification, cant tell its a call without looking.
Snooze function on the alarm clock
Ability to set longer time outs on the widgets, music controls disappear far too quickly unless you are in an activity.
Ability to leave HR sensor in auto mode when using Connect IQ apps the minute you enter the menu the HR sensor goes full power, a countdown timer doesn't need HR info so why waste battery
Fix the bug that causes Connect IQ watchfaces to initially report battery life incorrectly (charging screen says 100% unplug it the Connect IQ face says 97% happens on multiple faces so likely a platform bug)
  • Here's an easy request! Add an activity type for "Aerobic" gym classes.
I love my 235 for my regular running but it's frustrating I can't categorise my once a week Zumba class easily (currently fudging it a fitness equipment/cardio)

Five different types of diving have been added recently and we have "Wingsuit flying". I'm pretty sure more people do gym classes than wingsuit flying! (Or maybe taking a gym class isn't cool enough to have it's own activity type?? ;)
  • Wingsuit flying was my favorite activity type to bash prior to them finally adding yoga to the list.
Overall I think they need to make it easier for users to create their own activity types as well as exercise names in the Strength Training app that the newer watches have.
  • Love my 235. However, there is no way to have silent notifications. I would like to be able to see the notifications on my watch without a noise or vibration. Is this possible?
  • @goobatroopa: I don't think there is a setting for that. Personally, I don't think it make sense to allow notifications that do not somehow attempt to intrude on the device wearer's awareness the moment they arrive. If you just want a list of everything that awaits your attention when you're good and ready, wouldn't your mobile device's notification centre already serve that purpose, and give you far more information at a glance than your FR235 ever could?

Could you please add Stress Level and All-day stress? Or at least one of them.... I dont think the problem is that watch is hardware limited, but more like marketing strategy.... I would love to measure stress through the day... Thanks a lot :)
  • The watch is 'old' in Garmin's portfolio. They want you to upgrade to the 645/935 to get access to these features.

    Hi there Garmin!

    New to this thread:

One question though: I see a lot of propositions here, still the majority of them are not implemented by you on the watch (235).

What is the purpose of this thread if nothing is implemented then?

Did you occasionally discuss here with the users in order to get the best of this or you just see the posts without doing nothing?

Sorry for my tone but you I want you to be the best watch company, I demand that you do the BEST not the same as the others.

Wanting something is your prerogative. Demanding something, on the other hand, is only your prerogative only insofar as you can voice it, but you're in not position to compel others to oblige, accommodate or care in that regard.
