Feature Requests and Suggested Improvements

Okay, completed my first run with my new Forerunner 235 and I'll start off with the following:

Speed Source from Foot Pod on outdoor runs please!

This would be a great addition to the watch. It was a nice improvement on the 920xt and the 235 could definitely stand to have the same feature.
  • HR widget: config

    Hello Garmin,

Is it - or will it be - possible to set the amount of time for the HR widget?
Now is set to 4 hours, but it would be very interesting to be able to customize this duration (e.g. 2 hours or 1 hour... or 24 hrs).

    Thanks

Are you sure the treadmill is right?

    CW

Yes... I'm sure. I am athlete 29'40 "on track.
The device automatically calibrates but at training pace. In intervals, cadence increases less than the stride length, so always shows incorrect information in intervals, unless it can be calibrated manually.

For this reason, other watch brands allow manual calibration.

It is easy to implement and very important for advanced specific uses.

Delay auto pause after start and manual pause

I'm running/cycling with auto pause enabled. Each time I start running, the watch enters auto pause, and then after a second or two, it starts again. Which always makes me assure the clock is running.

Why not add an initial delay on auto pause, that is a few seconds in which auto pause will not be activated. The function should only be active on initial start and after a manual pause.

    Please! :)

Having these profiles would be a great update.

    Profiles:
    - Hiking/Walking
    - Gym/Crosstrain
  • For Hiking and outdoor walking, there's a Connect IQ app for that! (Hike)

    Hi Garmin,
I would like to have in 235 these two following notifications:
    1) When I reach my daily goal for steps (the watch will start vibrate and show me on display that goal has been reached)
    2) When I reach steps for delete notification for inactivity (the watch start vibrate and on display I´ḿ informed that inactivity has been cancelled)

I had these two notification on my garmin vivosmart optic and missing me here on 235

    Thank you

    Daily activity check & notifications

I would like to have in 235 these two following features which I had on vivosmart HR and missing me there:
    1) Info that I reached daily steps goal (vibrate of watch and info on display)
    2) Info that my inactivity bar has been erased (vibrate of watch and info on display)

I will be very glad for this features

    Thank you
  • Tweak the Garmin weather app

I would love a small tweak to the built in Garmin weather app to allow degrees Celsius for us Brits who like miles but no longer use Fahrenheit.

Also, I have added the 'stride length' additional running field, but why not add this as a basic metric from the get go? There are only two things you can alter to affect your pace - your cadence and your stride length, and both are very subjective unless you can see them.

What temperature unit have you got your device set to? Settings, System, Units

Stride length is available as a standard Garmin data field on a 630 as part of the Running Dynamics feature set. As such, I suspect product differentiation rules it on the 235 unfortunately.
