Feature Requests and Suggested Improvements

Okay, completed my first run with my new Forerunner 235 and I'll start off with the following:

Speed Source from Foot Pod on outdoor runs please!

This would be a great addition to the watch. It was a nice improvement on the 920xt and the 235 could definitely stand to have the same feature.
  • I'll admit off the bat that I have know idea how true this is as it's purely speculation on my part.

I'd say that the 630 doesn't have a specific piece of hardware for the LTHR/advanced dynamics, but rather the processor that it has is more capable than what is in the 230/235 and therefore has more overhead to work with the additional data.

For twice the price, I'd hope so... that said, I'd look seriously at the 6xx series if it gets a built in OHM. I'm too used to running without a strap now, going back would make me sad. I love my 235, but for a $330 piece the thing feels incredibly cheap.

    More data screens!!

I'd more than just 2 data screens I can configure. The 620 (my previous watch) had four, which was good. Any change of more screens??
  • The 620 is a higher end watch and therefore has more data screens. It replacement, the 630 has 4 data screens. The 2xx range only has 2 data fields. Garmin will continue to use features to distinguish between 2xx and 6xx watches so I reckon there is little chance that this will be implemented.

    Sorry

The 235 has 4 data screens

Just go to your activity settings in the watch. Press screen 1, then layout 1 field, then hit your down button until 4 fields show. Then press back and you can customize. Enjoy! It's an easy thing to miss.

This is, of course, if you really mean data screens and not fields. Pardon if you already have that figured out that there are up to 4 customizable fields per data screen, of which there ARE only 2.

Does Garmin really read this thread? Anyway...

Simple request. On iOS, Bluetooth devices can show their battery meter and battery percentage on iPhones and iPads. I have a Bluetooth speaker that can show the battery meter in my phone. It would be great if the 235 could also report this information to the phone.
  • More Frequent and Regular Background Syncing

I would like to see more frequent and regular background syncing when not in an activity. Something like every thirty minutes would be great.

It seems like my FR235 will go hours without syncing automatically even though it is continuously paired with my phone (Droid Turbo 2) with a strong internet connection. I notice this when I pull up Garmin Connect on my computer only to see that hours of data is missing. So I force a sync by unlocking my phone and bringing the Connect App to the foreground...or via the controls widget on the watch.
  • Costumizable activities

I would love either the ability to change the "other" activity profile to another, so you dont have to change it afterwards. This is very anoying when linked up with endomondo.
Or, the ability to add 1 or 2 new profiles!

Option to manually calibrate the pedometer (cadence), which is calibrated only 235 automatically and very wrong. Ej: Making series in treadmill to 3'00 "the forerunner tells me I'm 3'50" in indoor mode. (Other devices of other brands allow manual calibration).

    Thanks.
  • Are you sure the treadmill is right?
