Feature Requests and Suggested Improvements

Okay, completed my first run with my new Forerunner 235 and I'll start off with the following:

Speed Source from Foot Pod on outdoor runs please!

This would be a great addition to the watch. It was a nice improvement on the 920xt and the 235 could definitely stand to have the same feature.

Add notes field to sleep tracking

I'd like to be able to enter private notes in Garmin connect that are attached to the Sleep widget, so that I can make a note of anything that might have caused unusual sleep patterns that night. That way I can figure out what keeps me up at night more easily.
  • I haven't read the 24 pages so maybe what I'd like implemented has already been suggested:

It would be very nice to be able to upload any segments from Garmin Connect to FR235. For example: close to my home, there is someone who created a segment, and I want to challenge his personal best time. Instead of having to check on Google Maps for the start and finish points, it would be great if I could upload the GPS coordinates of the segment directly to my watch. At the start point, my watch bips/vibrates once, and I can give my best until the finish point when my watch bips/vibrates twice.
  • I agree, that would be nice. It might be seen by Garmin as a high-end feature though, so might only be on the high-end watches

    CW
  • You can sort of do that with a few workarounds.
Use http://strava-tools.raceshape.com/vpu/ to get the segment as a TCX file
Convert that to a GPX file - using your tool of choice from http://www.dcrainmaker.com/tools or similar
Install dwMap onto your 235 and use the Route creation option Import GPX to setup the segment route as the one to follow on dwMap

But when "out and about" and unsure of a segment start/finish, I just pull out my phone and consult the Segment Explorer on the Strava app. Or use Strava Live Segments.

But yeah an "easier" version would be nice. If it does happen, I would have to think with some confidence that it won't be the 235 that gets it - given it can't even enough do courses like the 735, Fenix 3 or 920 all can - all high-end watches as CW notes.

    Paring HR with edge 810

Since the last update to v5.20 is the HR paring option changed from on/off to auto/off, wich means that while using the auto option HR paring will be ended at the moment that power save becomes active. The powersave can't be schwitched off, so this change results in no longer using the 235 as the replacement for my heartrate belt while using the edge 810.

Not clear here. What type of HR broadcasting are you using? From the HR widget or from an activity? If the latter, is the 235 timer going? If not then think you would need to otherwise, it will, as you imply, time our to low power mode before long.

Using the HR widget to share the heartrate with the edge 810. In the previews versie no timer was needed. Just setting the share heartrate on. Nog I need to record my activity on the 810 (when cycling) and on the 235 beauge of the heartrate sharing function as well.

Not got my 235 with me right now but are you saying HR broadcasting from the HR widget is no longer working?

    Move alert

    Hi there,

I haven't read through the comments, but I was wondering if you could have a couple of extra setting options for the move alert apart from on and off.

For example it would be nice to have a setting like 'off after the daily goal step is achieved'. Or 'off after 200% of the daily goal step is achieved'.

It would be so nice not to have a watch hassle me after an early morning long run.
