Is anyone happy with their 235??

My 235 has been ordered and it should be with me in a few days. I understand that these forums tend to attract posts from users with issues and problems which I have been reading with interest.
But... is anyone actually happy with their 235 and have not had any of the issues discussed??? Is everyone sending their 235's back for a refund and should I cancel my order???
I'm trying to keep optimistic about my purchase :)

    The watch quality is good.

I use it as an activity tracker and the step counter is great.

The heart rate monitor Im not convinced is correct.

Notifications are great. Glance at the watch to see a message or email. Saves taking my phone out of my pocket if its not important.

It does not sync with myfitnesspal as they both claim. Plenty of complaints about this on here.

Battery life about 1 week with HR on constantly and GPS off.

It's strange how there are so many different issues. I've had absolutely no problem using my 235 with MyFitnessPal.

I've never had an issue with myfitnesspal syncing either. It's worked the few times I've used it just fine.

I bought the FR235 because my Tomtom Multisport Cardio was missing the HR broadcasting and the Tomtom MySports software is lacking a lot.

My FR235 has got the HR right from start to finish 1 out of 10 times, the Tomtom does it right 9 out of 10 times. -NOT HAPPY
GPS/GPS+Glonass accuracy seems strange when running. It really cuts corners even set to 1s. My measured 2,0km lap is 1,8km according to FR235 and 1,9km according to Tomtom - NOT HAPPY with either
    The FR235 eats battery when shut off. 3 days off=dead, 2 days off=60%, 2 days off=85% ??? -NOT HAPPY
The time is the same when I start the watch as when I turn it off sometimes. 2 days off... and will not sync time over Garmin Express... I started indoor biking and the GPS started, the watch corrected the time itself and I got 2 days of indoor biking - NOT HAPPY
Some indoor biking the GPS starts (as it is NOT set to do) but sometimes not - NOT HAPPY
Garmin Connect sets units to not metric, solution=not using Connect only use Express - NOT HAPPY
All-day-tracking does not work as I think it should - Don't really care
Sleep monitoring does not work - Would have been fun to see anyway
The Frost Blue Strap matches by Bianchi Bikes - Happy with that

I have removed all Connect IQ apps and done factory reset for all updates without any difference except that I got indoor biking first reset I did.

The Tomtom is not perfect but the FR235 is worse, much worse sorry to say.

Myfitnesspal works for me. I know these things can be temperamental though, so it's not totally surprising some are having issues.

I tend to put mine on sometime before I want to start a run. Not had any "start up" problems since doing so.

    > GPS/GPS+Glonass accuracy seems strange when running. It really cuts corners even set to 1s. My measured 2,0km lap is 1,8km according to FR235 and 1,9km according to Tomtom - NOT HAPPY with either

Measured by what? Can you post the GC link for a closer look. Are you sure you had GPS is Ready before you started running?

    > The FR235 eats battery when shut off. 3 days off=dead, 2 days off=60%, 2 days off=85% ??? -NOT HAPPY
Haven't seen that although I don't power off my watch as when not on my wrist everything, apart from time of day, should be shut off.

    > The time is the same when I start the watch as when I turn it off sometimes. 2 days off... and will not sync time over Garmin Express... I started indoor biking and the GPS started, the watch corrected the time itself and I got 2 days of indoor biking - NOT HAPPY

After sometime powered off, it might help to get a GPS again to ensure time of day is correct.

    > Some indoor biking the GPS starts (as it is NOT set to do) but sometimes not - NOT HAPPY
That was a bug that was fixed in the 3.25 beta

    > Garmin Connect sets units to not metric, solution=not using Connect only use Express - NOT HAPPY
Some issues have been reported generally with all devices about units changing. Changes made in GC try to get sent to your watch. Think Garmin are looking further into this.

    > All-day-tracking does not work as I think it should - Don't really care
    HR or steps?

    > Sleep monitoring does not work - Would have been fun to see anyway
Seems reasonable for me. What exactly are you seeing or rather not seeing?

Maybe interesting to know since I suspected Garmin would already know this, but maybe it's not the case. There is a bug with power being consumed when powered off.

I shut my Forerunner 235 down one evening and the next morning when powering it back up, there was more than 20% battery gone.

I've only seen it rarely, but something must have gone wrong with not all the parts of the watch stopping to consume power in certain cases.

    Not too happy yet...

Bought it as an upgrade of my TomTom Multisport Cardio (liked the screen, 24/7 tracking, back to start, etc). Was doubting between the FR 235 and the new Spark series but went for the 235 as the spark was not that different... Doubting if I made the right choice and that is mainly because of the OHR. It is pretty damn sketchy... 24/7 monitoring is also so-so. The HR has many weird spikes where the HR goes up like crazy (also the defaulting to 72bpm and then settling to your real HR is a nasty workaround... just disregard any HR which is not measured).

But mainly the OHR is a dealbreaker, never had any issues with the TomTom cardio so I'm hoping it's software and fixable. Wearing a strap is no option, hate them and the main reason for buying a watch with OHR is to get rid of them.

Will wear them both for a while tomorrow and record an hour or 2 as an activity (in house, maybe outside as well...). Nice to see some actual comparison.

    -Thanks for your support TIMGROSE

-Me too, have learned from Tomtom. I have big problems with cadence lock too.

-Measured by calibrated bike wheel and from map just to be sure. This is a 2km public running path. Please look att attached picture for comparing Garmins and Tomtoms different path on the same path. The Garmin (bottom) really cuts corners
-Yes I Always wait until GPS-ready.

-Not very interested in beta testing, takes to much time

    -OK, thanks

-HR. The unit seems to guess a value (66?), then looking for the correct HR.

-It says that i am awake all night... Now I have not tried it since last update

    Not anymore!!!

On 12/19 I originally posted on this thread and said how much I loved my 235. Well, that was v3.10/2.20. It's been a week since I updated to 3.20(30)/2.40 to get the "improvements". HUGE MISTAKE! I now have less frequent HR sampling, (this was, and still is very important to me), my HR always "defaults" to 72 before it goes to my correct HR, I'm now consuming 7-8% MORE battery life after they took away from the HR sampling to improve battery life, and I can walk uphill for 30 mins, stop and get a "move" alert 10 mins later. I'm beyond the point where I can return my 235. I'm currently looking for a new device, take my loses, and put my 235 on eBay.

If they can kill it with an update they can fix it with an update. If you really were happy with the previous software version perhaps sit tight and things will improve again.
