230 vibration / sound alerts

I've read on the 630 forum that the vibration and sound alerts are less discernible and because they are not as loud or vibrate less, people miss their interval Q's whether it be for HR, time, distance etc so I'm wondering if the 230 has the same problem. Thanks. I have the 610 for reference. tks. I haven't checked the 235 forum yet.

I had that problem with the 225 but the 235 is louder more like the 220 was. I have no experience with the 620/630 so can't compare to them.
  • 230 and 630 sound exactly the same to me.

Haven't got a 235 but would be very surprised if the 235 is different.

    Vibrations really?

When running intervals, I am more focused on my pace than my watch. So, the vibration is a good signal that I have to switch. I previously had a 310XT that was perfect in that sense. However, with the 230 I simply do not feel the vibration. Can it be set stronger that it currently is?
  • It can't be set stronger, but if you tighten the strap a notch that should help

I find the 230 to be much quieter and the vibration much fainter than on the 220.
  • Have zero issues with it.
Used 610, I wouldn't say it had much stronger vibration (maybe a bit)
Never missed an interval or an alert, I feel it and also feel which type of alert it is (for example long vibration "heart rate too high" or a short one "in desired zone" after that

As for sound volume - I listen to music, so cannot judge

Also note that you can set up alerts to your phone/ BT headphones (connected to phone) to read out lap information (interval stage is a lap). Won't help with alerts unfortunately
  • Count down to next segment

What I miss on the 230 is the count down for the next segment of a workout. My old watch would "beep, beep, beep BEEEEEP" Kind of like the On your marks, get set - Go in a race. I hope they work on that It would sure be nice.

It does do a countdown to the next interval...but you have to have the ears of a bat to hear it.
I'm wondering if the "vibrator" :o inside my 230 is defective. It's that poor.

I wore the 230 for an intervals workout today and even on a relatively still day and in no gloves, I could barely hear or feel the lap alerts.
I am going to return the watch and go back to my 220. It's a shame, because I like the fact that the 230 shows a little number to let you know at a glance which rep of a set you're on. On the 220 this is only displayed momentarily at the beginning of the lap.
  • Just started running with no gloves.
Yes, sometimes I don't feel it.
Had zero issues wearing it above the glove.
Will experiment with the way I wear it.

I think the reason is low weight combined with the way watch is build.
