Problems with sleep and activity tracking on the 235...

UPDATE TO THIS POST: All of the below is resolved on night #2 and the device worked great. Apparently all of the below problems were caused because the watch recorded movement and data while being delivered to my house and since the internal clock in the watch was 12 hours or so ahead of my local time it recorded movement in what would be the middle of the night for me. Even though the watch reset to my local time when I activated it, the watch "remembered" the movement in my "future" so the entire first night using it was a mess. Night #2 was brilliant with sleep/wake times to the minute and not a single step recorded.

OLD POST BELOW:

So, in the past I have had both a Vivofit (1st gen) and Vivosmart (1st gen) but switched away from the platform prior to "automatic sleep" tracking becoming standard on Garmin Connect. I received my Garmin Forerunner 235 last night (perfect HR tracking so far but without a workout in yet) but had pretty significant sleep and step tracking issues with sleep last night...

1. I have Garmin Connect set to update Apple Health with my step data since I also use an Apple Watch and I can get blended step totals in Apple Health.
2. I have Garmin Connect sleep window set to 11:00 pm - 6:00 am.
3. I had the 235 on the charger until nearly 1:00 am last night when I put it on and then wore it to bed around 1:30 am and slept until 7:45 am this morning.
4. Garmin Connect ON THE WEB (that's important) shows sleep from 11:00 pm - 6:00 am with significant periods during the night showing me awake and walking 700+ steps (didn't happen, and again it was on a charger until 1:00 am and I actually went to sleep at 1:30 am or so. I also didn't wake until 7:45 despite my sleep window being set to 6:00 am. It shows no deep sleep, about 5 or so hours of light sleep and 2+ hours of being awake and walking. I totally get that during sleep an activity device may log a few steps but this is really weird.
5. Garmin Connect ON MY iOS device shows the exact same sleep chart as above EXCEPT it shows the sleep window as 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM?????????

Any ideas? The device is counting steps perfectly when I walk around. The only thing I can think of is the device when I removed it from the box in the early evening last night came from the box indicating the next days date and time which promptly reset correctly when it got a GPS signal? Perhaps these "steps" were recorded in the box coming to my house then the unit backtracked to the correct time but still "remember" the shaking and moving in shipping? So bizarre, anyone else with any of these issues?
