For REI preorders, would in-store pick-up be faster or the same as ship to home? In other words, would it be the same because either way the item has to be shipped to either a store or to my home from a distribution center? Would appreciate any insights based on past experience (or even based on FR230s being shipped now)
From my experience (YMMV) is that if you have it shipped to your house, you'll get it at or before the store gets gets your store pickup and had a chance to contact you.
But that said, I had a pre-order for a device and it was still a couple days from shipping, and I called my local store and they had been shipped ONE to the store for general sales (and it was the color/option I wanted), and they held it for me. I canceled the pre-order, and had the device an hour later. (I have an REI a few miles from home)
