Stuck on trying to update Edge 1000 to 15.50

I'm running the latest Garmin Express 7.1.0.0 on Windows 10, and am trying to install the new 15.50 firmware for the Edge 1000. Garmin Express becomes stuck on:

Step 1 of 1: Preparing Device for Software Update. This may take a minute...

It never goes on to the next step. It's stuck forever. Rebooting doesn't help. What is going on?

I also tried to check for updates on the Edge 1000 itself, and it gets stuck on the checking...

I never did get an answer back about this. I just left my Edge connected for a few hours. When I came back, I saw that its screen was showing that it had an update ready to install. Normally, this happens almost immediately.

When I power on my Garmin it immediately says the SW is ready to install. When pressing install it starts verifying and comes with message that SW can’t be installed.

Mine installed correctly. It is showing as having updated to 15.50. Maybe check that you have enough internal free space remaining on your Edge? I had 2 GB of free space on mine.

I have the same issue. And when I navigate to the software page and click the check for updates button in lower right .. It just gives me the circle of waiting.

Any ideas on why it is behaving like this?

I would look in the garnin folder on the Edge and delete the gupdate.gcd file if it is there. Then sync and this will force the software to be downloaded again.

I don't use the Garmin apps, I just let the edge download/upload on it's own wifi.

I deleted the gupdate.gcd file, and it is no longer nagging to install. But it is having trouble when I check for updates.

The behavior has certainly changed. I'll post back after it manages to redownload and install the update.
