Boot up loop. Edge 1000 - Like others on this forum my edge 1000 is stuck in a boot-up/reboot loop.

Like others on this forum (and it appears on the internet/youtube etc) my edge 1000 is stuck in a boot-up loop. Has anyone successfully resolved this? How do I contact Garmin support to get direct help? I have 2 of their older devices Etrex 30x and Etrex 20 which have been great, but I'm definitely not impressed with the edge 1000. I have followed loads of advice at various button press combinations, but so far I'm just stuck in a reboot loop!

  • Yes. I have connected the Garmin Edge 1000 to my computer using the Garmin lead. I have held the power button for over 30 seconds. Held the power and lap button for 20+ seconds, held all 3 buttons for 20+ seconds. Left the battery to go flat and start again with all the above. I can’t get the 1000 to turn off (except when it runs out of battery). When I plug it back in to a power supply or my computer I get back to the reboot/restart loop.

  • I have also emailed Garmin support 4 days ago, but no reply. Is Garmin support usually helpful/quick at responding? Still no luck with reboot loop issue?

  • You should always call them or go into a chat session. Email is not a efficient way to solve a problem.

  • I was basically told it needs repairing for £200 or an upgraded 1030 for £350!! Less than 3 years old. I’m not impressed. So as this device is currently out of warranty the repair cost will be 195.60 However, we can offer a Trade in Trade up service which allows you to get an upgraded device from the same series at a 30% discounted price (full RRP as stated on our website - 30% discount).
