If it's a display anomaly, suggest contacting Garmin Support.
Looks to me as the LCD screen is failing or has been damaged in the past, contact Garmin Support for assistance

I have the same problem, and there are Edge 1000’s on eBay with the same issue. Support is not that helpful, but I’ll keep trying. I’m thinking of switching everything over to Wahoo. It pairs better, works better indoors. I have an Edge 500 that seems indestructible, no Bluetooth. I have an Edge 25 that needs a special cord, display is pooey. We have two 1000’s, but now that one is toast, we are not jumping to the very expensive 1030’s
