I understand, in theory it was replaced by the 1030, although I don´t see much of a difference apart longer battery life and screen definition. But the 1000 still does a brilliant job and at least I am not planning to change it anytime soon.
More people cycling these days and maybe more tech savvy, looking for improvements from their favourite maps provider. It is up for Garmin to decide if would like to keep their customer base happy! I guess.
