Removing parking symbols

Hi, is it possible to remove all those blue parking symbols from the map?

I can hardly see the roads and I don't need info where I can park my car when I'm riding my bike.

Thank you.

  • Which map are you using and can you specify the location? Looks somewhere in NL.

Edit: Did some work on it... Appears to be an anoying property of the Garmin Cycle Map, which shows car parkings as your picture shows. Beside that, the neighborhood in Tilburg (NL) you show appears to be rather crowded with car parkings. Recent edits on OSM have cleaned up the situation somewhat and I expect that on a future version of the Garmin Cycle Map there will be less (but not none!) car parkings visible at that location. When using the GCM you have no options on the Edge Explore to get rid of the parking symbols, also not when you set Map Details to 'Least'.

If you use the OpenFietsMap Benelux (OFM) from www.openfietsmap.nl, which is a specific cyclemap too, the car-parking symbols are suppressed like should be on a cycle map is n't it? Installation instructions - also in Dutch - for installing the OFM on your computer (PC / Mac) and the navigation device are on the site - worth reading them.
Remember to disable the several GC maps on the Edge if you use the OpenFietsMap instead.

  • Why OpenFietsMap are specific?

  • Because in the map routing design motorways are classified as non-routable for bicycles and cycleways are classified as highways. Therefore you must NOT check avoid 'Major Highways' in the avoidance settings on the navigation device when using the OFM. This trick forces routing over cycleways.
As an extra, if you check avoid 'Toll Roads' routing over cycling routes (national, regional or local) gets preference.
